  • Isoliquiritigenin is a licorice chalconoid, a type of natural phenol. It activated soluble guanylate cyclase, increased cyclic GMP, and exerted a vasorelaxant effect in the phenylephrine-precontracted rat aorta. Yu S.M. and Kuo S.C. "Vasorelaxant effect of isoliquiritigenin, a novel soluble guanylate cyclase activator, in rat aorta." Br. J. Pharmacol. 114: 1587-1594 (1995).
  • Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs) play an important role in regulating development and homeostasis. Isoliquiritigenin was shown to be an activator of BMP signaling. Vrijens K., et al. "Identification of small molecule activators of BMP signaling." PLoS One 8: e59045 (2013).
  • Isoliquiritigenin inhibited the growth of colon carcinoma in vitro and in vivo. It protected the kidney and liver against chemotherapy-induced toxicity in a mouse xenograft model of colon carcinoma. Lee C.K., et al. "Isoliquiritigenin inhibits tumor growth and protects the kidney and liver against chemotherapy-induced toxicity in a mouse xenograft model of colon carcinoma." J. Pharmacol. Sci. 106: 444-451 (2008).
  • Another CAS number previously assigned to Isoliquiritigenin, namely 78918-29-3, has been deleted by CAS and is no longer in use.
